For the moment, I'm at Emily and Harry's house. I may go to bed early, as it's really exhausting trying to do stuff in the dark, and I've already filled up my trunk with stuff of mine to go to mom's house.

I've been ranting and raving at many of my friends because I wrote to a guy whose profile I happened to see (through one of their random generated thingies), because he was adopted. He wrote back to me, telling me about his experience with adoption, but I forgot everything he said when I got to the point about 2/3 of the way through the letter, where he told me that HE was married in a monogamous, heterosexual relationship with the mother of his children because that is "what God intended."

The vitriol boiled inside me. I'm allergic to Christianity, I tell you. Any other nutball from some other religion tried to sell me this shit, I'd just laugh.

My first thought was, So, if God wanted me to be doing something else, does that mean He's weak, or I'm powerful? Nyah, nyah, I'm stronger than God!

My second thought was, So, you've already noticed that God doesn't want me to have a family, because I tried doing it the way it was intended, and it didn't work. That must mean, since that's what was intended, that God Hates Me, right?

My third thought was to tell him about my friends who got knocked up at Beltaine and are now a beautiful family. Isn't it nice how the Goddess works things out?

I don't think I'll actually answer him, because there's no way I can impress on him how rude he was.

I'm not a huge fan of "my" Christmas, either. I'm all about observing the birth and death and resurrection and all that, but I'd prefer to do it privately. The holidays and all their traditions have little to do with Christ and I find them fluffy, commercial and distasteful. I put up a Christmas tree and hide Easter eggs because my husband likes to watch the kids enjoy them. If it were up to me we wouldn't even do gifts. I can buy gifts for my family any day of the year, and do, but I usually end up stashing them in the attic for several months.

I think my brother described it best when he started telling people his "religion" was "Judeo-Christian-Pagan". I usually throw in a "Neo" and a "Buddhist" as well, but they're not technically religious tags so much as belief systems.
