If a live mouse actually runs through the house, the longer it stays, the greater mounts the chance that the woman will squeal and jump up on things.

Footnote: I have been the affectionate owner of rats and snakes. I chase frogs, fireflies, cats, lizards and chickens. I have never met a strange dog, although some of them have been known to meet a strange me. I like mice. I squealed ... like .... a girl. ick.

I like lizards, and snakes, and mousies, too. But there's just something about the way they jump out from nowhere and the little jittery tail-up run that's dreadfully disconcerting. My reaction is usually more of a loud yawp than a squeal, though.
