I didn't realize I hadn't written in so long. But the reason is that I had no good news.
It was mentioned in one of the longer posts you probably skipped (not that I'm blaming you) that I have been without insurance and thus without psychiatric care or medication since I came down here.
And speaking of coming down, right after that last post I was coming down with the flu, it looked like. I missed 3 days of work, which never happens to me. I'm never that sick. And my mood was falling right down the drain with it.
I came to the conclusion that if I'm going to hope to keep going without anti-depressants, I'm going to have to have more control over my externals.
So, I put in my notice and went looking for another job. I've been hired at a retail store known as The Gentleman's Quarter, although it's really mostly a ladies' store. At one point, The Ladies' Quarter was upstairs, but that's closed now, and the ladies stuff is downstairs. There are still tuxes, ties, belts, suspenders, socks, casual shirts, cufflinks and men's cologne. But most of the store is now ladies' wear. So, I'm learning to do this job, and I don't know if I'll be any good, but there's no messy food, smelly homeless, loud drunks, and running my ass off in a tiny disorganized space. And the hours are 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. every day.
Controlled environment. I'm already better.
Robert is teaching me to play pool. I will probably be on his team next year.
