I just recovered from my 2:30 delivery. I went to this house & nothing was wrong. we were slow, so I knew the order was correct and hot. I was in a good mood. it was sunny. the child answering the door was polite. nothing was wrong.

then his mother came downstairs. "why do you need my credit card?" - "to confirm the number ma'am."

she hands me her card. I say, showing her what I am doing, "I'm imprinting the card so my boss can see that it's the same card."

"you don't need to do that. I don't want my number out there. " - "this number only duplicates the other one already on the receipt ma'am."

"no other vendor does this!" and she tries to take the imprinted receipt away from me.

"i can't let you take that, ma'am," I say, pulling the now-torn receipt out of reach. she reached for me, and she is in my face, her arms reaching around me.

that's the point where I deliberately dropped the facade. "do you want to fight me?" I asked. she snatched all the paperwork from my hand and retreated to the doorway, triumphant, until I tried to gather the bags of food I had set down to do the credit. then she tried to snatch those. at that point I ran for the car, while she yelled, I paid for that merchandise! I'm calling the police!

she calls my boss, of course, who negotiates the truce: I take the food, she gives up the imprinted and signed receipt AND she gets a $30 credit.

same boss, same hour, refuses to honor two coupons because they expire today. stonewalls them completely.
