Can anyone tell me anything about non-stick pans?

We have a couple, and my partner guards them jealously. He only uses those plastic-y (I forgot the substance) non-metal tools on them, but then food sticks to them anyway, but we can't scrub it off because it takes off the surface. This seems to me like junk we should be throwing away, but I can hardly do that without a good alternative.

Ideas, please!

Eggs

My friend David gave us some "real" eggs, laid by "real" chickens, as opposed to industrial chickens.

They are slightly smaller, more irregular in shape and color than the industrial eggs. The shells are harder to crack, which indicates, I think, that they are thicker.

I had two, fried, along with a third "regular" egg. I think, although I can't be sure, that they were tastier than the other egg.

I could see keeping chickens, I think.

Also, on a label for Land o' Lakes eggs, it said that the chickens were raised on a vegetarian diet. Do other people NOT raise chickens on a vegetarian diet? Why would you do that? Wouldn't that stress the chickens? Ok, I'm assuming by "non-vegetarian" we mean meat from endoskeletal animals, rather than feeding them bugs or worms, which obviously free-range chickens could and would eat.

Not, mind you, that there's anything stopping people promoting things that are true about conceivably all brands... I think Land o' Lakes was one of the first ones to advertise that their vegetable oil margarine had no cholesterol. Cholesterol is only present in animal fat, so, uh, yeah, DUH.

I do not do enough to keep up with the tech I actually do have. I promise, promise, promise, I will do these things this weekend:

1. Compile the contact information I have, and update and sync my Treo.

2. Start (once again) ripping music, loading it into iTunes, and loading that onto my iPod.

3. Sort out the software disks I have.

4. Make some LJ icons. Some icons I plan include: LOL, Cheesy grin, A-ha!, guilty, guilty pleasure, Oh no you didn't!, P-lease, corsetry, gaming, checking my notes, squee, religion, Love.

Also, I need to meditate, finish moving the massage table, and do my magickal homework.
