I believe that God reveals itself to those who seek it.
I believe Love is the highest motivation we can have and that it is part of the divinity of our nature that God gives us the ability to love.
I also believe that art and laughter and play and society and tradition have something to do with this. But I'm not sure how they fit in just exactly.
I believe that God gave Human Beings free will. I believe that doing God's will is much more active than being a zombie and requires a very conscious and deliberate use of your free will. I believe that enslaving another's free will is evil. However, I also believe that it is very hard to do without their permission.
I believe in enlightened self-interest. I believe that, if we are truly self-interested, we will also be altruistic, compassionate, and fair, because we see how we are connected to those around us and how what we do affects them affects us.... etc.
I have never stopped believing that there was supposed to be love. I have thought that maybe I wasn't able to do it. I have thought that maybe I wasn't supposed to have any. I have thought that maybe I didn't have a soul.
There is such a thing as something being less evil than something else. Even God puts it in the Bible, with the story of the good Samaritan, and the Talmud says there is room for the righteous of every people in the kingdom of Heaven. Sin does not make you evil, nor does believing in something that is not true. But it might make you really sad.
Maybe I will write more later. And maybe I am already embarrassed.
