Ok, at 6:29 p.m. the sun will set. The twilight will end at 7:58 p.m., and so it will be dark. It seems to be dark much earlier than that, I will make it a point to look.

The moon will rise at 6:24 a.m., since it is the very last waning crescent; the new morning will begin it's twilight at 6:58 a.m. 11 hours of night. Just so.

The sun will officially rise at 8:27 a.m. 13 hours and 58 minutes without the sun. Weird. Then nothing happens until the moon sets at 5:21 p.m., then the sun sets at 6:29 p.m. 10 hours and 2 minutes. Wow. It's just like today. :)

Looking at this calendar, I can see why the moon is 'dark' for three days. It is not only dark, it rises and sets between the times of twilight, so there is light in the sky the whole time the moon is 'up' and so it can't be seen.

Dec. 6, the sun sets at 6:29, dark falls at 7:58... but the moon is up then, and doesn't set until 8:51, 53 minutes later. So there is your new moon, your Diana's bow, if you can see it.
