I don't write in my journal for days, but when I do...

I got all the way down to 136 on the Atkins plan before suddenly, yesterday, it was 137, and today, 138. Is it just me? Was it the sunflower seeds? The diet coke? Or am I getting aggravated over some hormonal shift that will correct itself? This is the weirdest diet. I went down four pounds in four days, stayed at 139 for almost a week, crept down over most of the last week, now back up again. Argh. It makes me want to eat a big piece of fudge, that's WHAT.

Frustrating, yes, but typical of many diets. Even if you weigh yourself at the same time each day, your weight fluctuates.

Don't get dejected. Keep a log, and watch the overall trend.

Check out The Hacker's Diet (http://www.fourmilab.to/hackdiet/) for a better explanation, and tools for helping to track your weight loss.

Also, with the Atkin diet, you can start gaining again if your ketonin levels get too high (I think it is too high..the goal is to either boost them or get rid of them [I forget which] but not to get rid of them entirely.)
