That is not nearly all of the story, of course, what I put in the previous entry...
First off, sometime last year, around Thanksgiving, the one owner of the restaurant was having drinks with some guy and as they were getting ready to leave, there was someone approaching the owner and his friend for spare change or something, and then he (the stranger) shot the friend, who later died.
I found the entry I made about that.
So, the owner, whose name is Greg, survived the shooting in November, apparently, because he ran into the restaurant and closed the door. The murderer just ran away, I guess. We thought it was pretty suspicious... after all, I've met a lot of shady characters and panhandlers and hustlers, and I've never been even threatened, much less shot at. So, we all speculated as to whether the killer was actually known.
With the second shooting, in which Greg's partner Sam is dead, and Greg is alive, but with two gunshot wounds, both to the head, I feel like it's too much coincidence to be coincidence.
Greg drives more than one really nice car, and I know from being told by several people that he deals drugs. He also hardly ever seemed to have any customers, although the ones he did have seemed like pretty high rollers. Sam could really cook, though, and I enjoyed it when he made food for me.
According to reports from Corey, one of the cooks at Milano's, the person doing the shooting shot Greg and then shot Sam when Sam tried to get away. Sam was shot five times in the back and head, he said.
Seven gunshots and no one saw anything?
Last Friday night, around 9:30, Puck was in a car wreck. Two other cars were involved; one man was taken to the hospital on a stretcher, and Puck got a ticket.
Puck was trying to turn left out of a parking lot, but the driveway was going up an incline, and the visibility was poor to the left. Puck intended to turn in front of a lady who was stopped in the road waiting to make a left-hand turn. When he tried to proceed, he was hit in the front left corner of his car by a third car which was coming from his left. The car then rebounded into the stopped car.
Puck said he didn't see the car that hit him, and the lady in the stopped car said the man did not have his headlights on. The man who hit them was out of his car walking around, but then the ambulance came and they made him lie down on a stretcher and took him to the hospital. He was going the fastest, so he probably got the greatest impact.
Puck's airbag went off and he got a bruise on his shoulder from the seatbelt, and another on his calf, but we're not sure from what exactly. He was checked by the paramedics, as was everyone, but he refused treatment.
The body shop man says the car is totaled, and we are waiting to hear what the pay off will be from the insurance company so we can figure out how to get Puck another car.
Puck is upset because this will mess up his plans to go to New York this summer, as the court date is July 28, the day after a music festival he wanted to attend. I think, though, he is more worried about the money that he may lose in the process. I pointed out that at least he didn't have a lien on the car any more, otherwise, the insurance would have paid that, and he wouldn't have any money to get a new one.
I think I'm done writing news for now.
Puck's wreck, . . .
Date: 2003-07-05 08:53 am (UTC)I have always said and will aways say that making a left hand turn in the metro area is a suicide turn. Every accident I was in except one was when I made a left handed turn. The other accident was when somebody ignored a red and pulled out in front of me. :P (It happened as they came of I-75 on Wade Green late at night if you know that intersection) But anyways, I'm rambling. I'm glad Puck is okay. He just needs to remember cars, trips, etc can be replaced...he can't.

Date: 2003-07-06 08:53 pm (UTC)Somehow I'm trying to figure out some kind of question about my life here. It's kind of like the moments I have watching Buffy, only it's in my life. You know... bureaucracy vs. brain splattering.
I think I'm not doing well with explaining this.
