The time of moving is approaching quickly now. 14 weeks or less... Tor and I were just discussing whether it would be more economical and reasonable to go ahead and move me out there in December. I seem to just be losing money here.
But it would not change the fact that I have nothing organized like I want it to be. And while I'm working my butt off, it doesn't seem like it will be either.

So, I have the day off and I'm sitting here mucking and fiddling... or are those the same thing?

I feel vaguely motivated now, I planted tulips with heather.... I think my room is just too big a project. I understand that you are supposed to break it down into various different parts.

But I am not sure how to do that either. it seems like just another piece of a job that's too big.

As a sideline

Matthew & I have decided that we are going to get the library *done* this year. Part of that process, which I haven't really discussed with Matthew, is getting all of the books catalogued & cross-referenced. We have 2 walls, 8.5' x 12.5' each, of books. Plus, at least 8' x 4' of additional paperbacks. Plus, about 10-12 copy paper boxes full of additional books. Plus comics. Plus the various piles of books in the bathrooms, bedroom, office, den, dining room. Plus a dozen or so books that are on loan to various people. How would you like to make a hundred or so per month & help us out? We'd just give you a key & let you work when you had the spare time.

Sounds like a good thing! I have catalogued/created two databases for people as temporary work, so I know I can do it. With a little help from Mark, I will know how to build a database on my own so we can put the fields you want/need in it.

In spite of much moaning and bitching about my own untidy life, I'm very good with other people's stuff. :)

Regarding building the database, I'm not certain I know what fields I want/need. Some, of course, are obvious (title, author/editor, publication date, publisher, ISBN or other identifying number) but I want to cross-reference the non-fiction by subject & the fiction by category. Within the fiction categories, in particular, there are sub-groupings that can get rather involved. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to discuss them.
