They turned me down, didn't say why, just not a match.  I never got a "real" interview -- those screening processes were just to get to the actual application -- so I don't know who to ask.  I dashed off a resume to the first offer of an entry level position I found online, but I suspect (just from the number of words devoted to it) that it may be one of those "jobs" that's really "training" and there's no there there.  But time will tell.

I'm not all that concerned about my skill set, or resume, but I don't know, yet, how to find out where the jobs are.  I'm reading the post-graduation information they sent from Career Step, and see if that's any more informative.

ugh... sometimes I wonder what this company is thinking... to many times they've turned down people that would be great at the job..only to hire someone that sucks at it... sorry ya got turned down..

Ya, I know, their loss.

If you know anything about where to find good job leads, you'll let me know, right?

I really hate the "application." Because my Resume says I worked as a data entry specialist (Accuracy), reporter (Voice communications and copy editing), delivery driver (Deadlines), and retail clerk (Independent Worker). All of my bosses will tell you I am attentive to detail and scrupulously honest. But the application just wants all the jobs I've had, which is not as pretty to look at, without the dressing...

But then, I don't know what "didn't match" so I don't know what to improve.

Try going to the hospitals close to you and asking where they get their transcription done. Ask if they use a service or independent contractors for their transcription pool. If they use a service, see if you can get their number, if they use independent contractors, get an application. :D
Roger that. Tomorrow there's a get together at a friend's house who works for MedQuist... maybe they can tell me where else people have gone. Then there's the Sunday paper. And then Monday I will go to Pill Hill and start networking there.

suckages - you will find the right thing for you, i'm sure. - You might be interested in court reporting, its similar except it is legalese rather than medical terminology.

On the medical side of it:
There are, what we call ASP clients. They are companies that all they do is transcription work for their own clients, and the companies use the MQ technology/services for them. In turn, MQ can not go to those facilities and try to push out the middleman, for as long as there is a contract with that middleman.

Accuscribe is one of the ASP clients I speak of. - I'd also say check out MTStars website, but it is full of disgruntled MT's bitching about all their companies - however, you might find a few leads from there. At least, company names, if you troll long enough.

Also, there are many hospitals that either do their own transcription work, or they do the QA/QC for the outsourced transcription companies, since they know the dictators and SOP, etc.

You will want to speak to the Medical Records departments, at the hospitals and clinics. They are the ones that can tell you where to go and what to do - now, you MIGHT hit a roadblock there, due to some of them thinking that even THAT information is protected under HIPPA and Sarbanes/Oxley - but it is not, if you read those regulations.

Hang in there
