I have to admit, I've not really been consistent about taking my meds lately.  I haven't thought they made much difference, but you know how that goes, if you do brain/nerve meds.  Inconsistency and ineffectiveness feed into each other.  So I just went looking for them, because hey, it's morning, that time where I think I ought to be up anyway.  (I think 7 is as early as anyone ought to have to get up, and 10 a.m. is as late, because then you've definitely slept through breakfast and morning coffee break and are on your way to missing lunch, and if you miss lunch, you just may as well decided you're skipping work/class/the whole day.....)

I'm pretty sure they're in the bag.  One of the bags.  I hope none of them has been left in the car.  Because that's bad for the meds.  And bad for my mental hygeine, leaving stuff I want unattended.

Right.  Looking for meds. Not on the desk, on the table behind the desk, in the desk drawer.  Not on the shelf by the door.  Not on the kitchen counter, in the tray I use for a catch-all, or in the pile of vitamin bottles.  Not on the bathroom counter or in the drawers.  One is in the black carryall bag my sister gave me, the one I take to Charlie's on the weekend.  The other is in the computer bag.

Now one is on the desk, looking at me.  I'll take it in 5 minutes.  I will try to take it for a week at 8:30 a.m., even if I have to set an alarm to do it.  The other one is in the purse now, the one with the wallet and the car keys, the one thing I'm SUPPOSED to leave the house with.

It's true, everything I needed to know, I did learn in kindergarten.  Get up in the morning.  Make the bed. Put on clothes. Eat breakfast.  Face the world.

Your last paragraph reminds me of a poem I grew up with

"It's time to wake up with a stretch and a yawn.
It's morning already, the night is all gone.
It's a happy day, time to play, day to have fun.
There's so much to do before this day is done.

But the first thing, number one fun thing to do today
Is to get yourself dressed and get ready to play"

That's why there are meds. It's also exhausting.
