Ok, I'm thinking I need to have a big garage sale/housecleaning party next Friday, the 12th. But it would (being the house to clean and the garage to sell) have to be at dreadalus' house, after he wakes up.

The plan: everybody come to the house, BYOW, we'll have music, everyone take a bag o stuff and divide it into stuff they'd keep and stuff they'd throw/give away. People can make offers on things they want to buy, although the very coolest stuff will of course remain mine... the rest will be packed into the old car to take to donate to the Salvation Army. The goal is to empty the garage and upper bedrooms of all my junk.

What say, Dreadalus? Are you and tankboy (Haggis) going to get that dumpster?

I'd love to sell any furniture (bed, mattresses, chairs?) so I'd have some money to go to California (and get new furniture) with.

Anyway, MIIB time, gotta run.

*pouts* I'm kinda bummed that I can't come, since I'm going to AC.. That, and hanging out and being around people, and listening to music and stuff is really neatish.

Haggis sez (tankboy?) he has no need of a dumpster, per se. Might still be worth it to us (me) to see what can be had, tho.

As far as waking up on a Friday night to a house full of loud music and people I don't know pawing through my mounds of priceless gewgaws and bails of sentimental knickknacks and trying to decide:

a) whether it's mine or yours,
b) whether it's crap or treasure,
c) whether it should be thrown out, donated, or bid on,
d) and where it should go/be stacked when those other things have been decided,

really provokes the not-good side of my paranoia, panic and loathing (and then I would have to go off to work.

Although I'm absolutely positive that every one of your friends is the most sterling example of their particular genres that exists, and it *would* actually be nice to see some folks (*waves to Aatea*) I'm pretty sure that the last time I was this thrilled by an idea it involved high-speed dental equipment.

Are there options, still? I realize your resources and choices are somewhat limited here, but if something different than this plan could achieve the same results for you, I'd be more inclined towards that. How about bails of cash now and donate stuff at my leisure? Late night snark hunts with lard and flashlights to find the indispensable things you need to take with you? Umm, lessee...

But I wasn't meaning anyone should be going through your stuff. Only mine.

I'm just posting this for people who are actually watching, since you and I, dreadalus, discussed this earlier.

You said, you didn't want your stuff pawed over. Right. I don't want your stuff pawed over either. I do have two days from the time I get back in town to the time I actually proposed people come over, in which to separate any of your stuff out from any of my stuff that could get mangled in the process.

And you have the whole week before that to decide if there's any of your stuff you actually do want to throw away or sell....

I'm not proposing having ANYONE show up until 9:30-10 p.m. Friday night, so you will be awake before anything gets remotely noisy or crowded. And if the weather permits, I hope we'll be having this party mostly outside, with people coming in for ice and music and maybe DVD watching.

Although we would need more lights from somewhere.

I just wanna excuse to throw a party and help getting rid of some of this junk! Maybe Saturday would be a better day? Maybe the next week? Oh, now, dammit, don't ixnay an idea without helping me with another one. I need to get rid of stuff NOW.
