Some of you have already read this. I put it here so I would not lose the log and because when I got home there were horoscopes to go with it. So...

(And welcome to day 4, eh?)
i really wasn't sure if I was going to be writing this entry. After all, I stopped in jackson mississippi, with about 400 miles and change to go. After averaging 700+ miles per day, this seemed child's play.
Not that it has been anything other than child's play. In fact, that's probably the reason I am writing: in the home stretch, I played.
I got a motel room in the best western. I talked to Toast on the motel phone, while sitting still. (you too can create conditioned behavior patterns in half a week. ) we hung up around 2 a.m. Local time.
I took a bath, but found I was too tired to do anything but sit and soak. So I went to bed, and dreamed of not being able to see the road, driving my car off the road, and various other travel nightmares. It was a lot like real life, except for the giant flying things hitting the windows.
Every time i woke up, I checked the time and went back to sleep, until the wake-up call.
(4 miles to Eden. There's a thought.) (and it's on U.S. 78, too. Cd just take the scenic route the rest of the way.)
Mrowp. Got out the honey-almond soap and apple scented lotion I bought at cracker barrel. Took a real bath. Then sorted out the stuff from the car, found clean clothes, threw out the trash, found the cat. Checked
out at 11:56 local time-- the latest start time of the trip.
But instead of trying to make time, I drove a couple of exits to WH and had breakfast/lunch. So it's around 2:30 Atlanta time before I really got going. Still thinking I can get to Atlanta before sunset, I do not realize i will be in Birmingham, Ala., for rush hour.
I have had fun today, though. Playing in the truck stops, I added David Allen Coe music and two toy guns and a mood ring to my collection of Americana junk. And now it's time to send the daily update, it's twilight here, and I still have about 100 miles. Ah well, at least Toby will still have supper on solid ground.
Farewell until I am once again safely bound with cat-5.

It's not often that your sunny spirit is dimmed, but it may be for now. You may find yourself in a more serious mode, so be prepared for some downtime. Someone may need your assistance at home. Try to be as supportive as possible. Sit quietly with this person, hold his or her hand and listen to any problems that come up. This is the right way to behave, even if you're the one taking the fire. Whether this person is right or wrong with an assessment of the problems, what is really needed is just a little empathy.
