Really, why do you think you need to "completely eliminate" cigarettes from your diet? Do you not realize that it's the feeling of deprivation that makes "no-smoking" diets fail over and over again? And seriously, you need to have a little fun and not be so hard on yourself.

What is "fun" about smoking? I can see where it salves the aching monkey-brain of addiction and habit, and I can see where, like getting together for a drink, it can act as a focus for socialization, but really... "fun"? You're lighting a wad of dried, chemically-enhanced leaves that don't even give off a cheery flame, but instead smolder, and you're sucking in the smoke and blowing it out again, and flicking ashes.

I can think of more fun things to do with a lighter. More destructive, perhaps, but definately more fun. Preferably also involving pyrotechnics.

I think they were making fun of some of the language in diet commercials.

Nicotine is a stimulant. So are 'diet pills'. Stimulants cause more calories to be burned, so smoking *is* beneficial to those wanting to lose weight.

Its just that pesky lung cancer....

This is why God invented coffee... and they keep discovering new benefits as they go.

Aw, I wrote a response to your last post and then thought about it and I hate it when people tell me what to do. I'm sorry. Please disregard.

Nothing to forgive

No problem, sweetheart. So far, you're the only one who seems to have gotten the point of THIS post. At least you provided a link and experiential reference.

Do you want my militant anti-smoking response or my more gentle, conciliatory response? The second may make me work harder.

I am so over giving diet advice. :)

First of all, most people don't want it (even the ones who ask for it, a lot of the time, and I noticed that you didn't ask for advice). Secondly, what works for some people doesn't work for others. And third, I do agree that the deprivation is true, to an extent, but everyone doesn't feel "deprived" by cutting out the same things.

Try switching to toothpicks. No calories. It worked for me.
